The DuPont Global Sourcing & Logistics Vision

Our goal is to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage to the delight of our customers through the development and execution of world-class supply chain integration and collaboration.

The Global Sourcing Competency: What We Do

The Global Sourcing Competency includes both Sourcing & Logistics organizations.  Global Logistics assists and/or provides DuPont businesses with the capability to safely deliver materials and products anywhere in the world on time and at a competitive advantage. Some of the activities on the Logistics team include: Global Cargo Claims Program, Import/Export, USA Air Routing Guide, Rail Equipment, Distribution Safety, Warehouse Services Procurement, TONA, and Quality. Global Sourcing utilizes effective purchasing strategies to ensure that DuPont purchases the highest quality products or services at the total lowest cost. Through such strategies as eProcurement, reverse auctions, negotiations, and efficient sole souring, DuPont is able to offer the finest products at the best possible price.

Types of Roles within the Competency

The Global Sourcing Competency is operationally made up of three different components: Strategic Business Units/Sites (SBU), Centers of Expertise (COE), and Regional Supplier Management (RSM). The COE defines sourcing strategies and identifies opportunities for leveraging the buy across DuPont. They are also responsible for contract negotiations. The RSM team focuses on identifying suppliers from every region of the world and is responsible for managing supplier performance to carry out specific needs. This work is completed for the needs of the SBUs. Together, these components make up the "three-pronged structure" that supports the GS&L organization.
