DuPont sponsored the 6
th annual (U.S.) National Agriscience Teacher Ambassador Academy -- a special project of the
National Future Farmers of America Foundation -- which recently was held at DuPont Chesapeake Farms in Chestertown, Md.
The academy is a professional development program where agriculture teachers learn new inquiry-based teaching techniques to improve science learning, which is reflected by improved performance in standardized science test scores of the students.
Twenty-seven specially selected agriscience teachers from 26 U.S. states learned about incorporating additional science into their existing curriculums and making learning fun and challenging for students. More than 75 teachers have been a part of the academy.
“Science, agriculture and DuPont is a natural association. This is the 60th year that DuPont has been actively associated with the FFA. I am pleased that DuPont and the FFA can join forces to sponsor this academy for agriscience teachers across the United States,” said Jim Collins, vice president and general manager - DuPont Crop Protection and a member of the FFA national board of directors. "It's a positive way DuPont can begin to train the next generation and future employees who will advance agriculture.”
