Solae's Ieper, Belgium, site celebrated its 30th anniversary. A ceremony was held at Ieper's City Hall with dignitaries including Prime Minister Yves Leterme, West Flandern Governor Paul Breyne and Ieper Mayor Luc Dehaene.
"The Ieper plant has been a model for its commitment to safe work practices and production of safe, healthy and sustainable soy products," said Solae CEO Torkel Rhenman. "These accomplishments are possible because of our 115 employees, who take great pride in the company's core values."
The facility, which operates 24 hours a day, has had zero lost work cases since August 2006.
The Ieper plant was dedicated on September 30, 1978, when Ralston Purina owned Protein Technologies International, which became DuPont Protein Technologies in 1997. In 2003, Solae was formed through an alliance between Bunge Limited and DuPont. The facility produces soy protein isolate and has a capacity of 25,000 metric tons.
