DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products has announced that its breakthrough product, Zemea® propanediol has been independently inspected and approved as a natural ingredient by ECOCERT®, one of the leading international organic and natural agencies.
Zemea® is the first glycol to receive ECOCERT® approval. Zemea® is a 100 percent natural ingredient made from corn sugar and developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care categories. It is a high performance alternative to petroleum-based glycols and glycerin in cosmetic and personal care formulations where the product’s purity level, low irritation and excellent moisturization properties are benefits.
“The ECOCERT® label is a mark that represents superior quality of product,” said DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products President Steve Mirshak. “Cosmetic and personal care companies who are seeking ECOCERT® certification for their products now have an ECOCERT® approved glycol to use in their formulations. They can be confident that Zemea® will add to their natural content requirement for ECOCERT certification.”
ECOCERT® is an internationally recognized organic certification that guarantees the genuine practice of environmental respect throughout the formulation and manufacturing of a product. The certification of cosmetics ensures that 95 percent of the total ingredients are of a natural origin and 10 percent of the total ingredients are organic. ECOCERT® is the leading European authority on organic certification, and the standard used by prestige organic brands.
