DuPont Marks 206 Years of Progress, Innovation
Tomorrow marks the 206th anniversary of DuPont. On July 19, 1802, in Wilmington, Del., French immigrant E.I. du Pont de Nemours founded the company that bears his name to the present day.
In 1802, the company had about 100 employees at one site in the U.S., 12 customers and one product – refined salt peter. The earliest reported revenues were from 1804, the first year of black powder sales, at more than USD 10,000.
DuPont today has about 60,000 employees, 220 sites and a presence in more than 75 countries. With about 500,000 individual products and more than 400,000 customers, the company has grown to more than USD 29 billion in revenues.
