DuPont has helped to form the Alliance for Abundant Food and Energy, a coalition committed to sustainably and responsibly improve diets and reduce dependence on fossil fuels through increased agricultural productivity.  The Alliance was launched yesterday in Washington, D.C.  Other members include the Archer Daniels Midland Company, John Deere, Monsanto and the Renewable Fuels Association.

"Critics often paint the debate as an "either/or" choice between food and fuel, but the Alliance believes it can meet the global food and energy demands through agricultural innovations that generate greater yields," said DuPont Group Vice President Jim Borel.  "Alliance members have pledged to refocus the discussion on solutions and spread the message that through increased agricultural productivity, the growing global demand for food and renewable forms of energy can sustainably be met."

Alliance members will conduct targeted outreach to members of the U.S. Congress, spotlight collective expertise that has led to innovations that increase crop yields, and build grassroots outreach across the U.S.
