The Solae Company, a DuPont joint venture with Bunge, recently developed a cereal-based, protein-fortified liquid drink called Nutri Sip made from the Nigerian-grown cassava plant.  Solae executed its industrial trials of Nutri Sip with 3,000 liters of production.

Nutri Sip is being used to facilitate a school feeding program in Nasawara, Nigeria. The project will reach approximately 2.5 million children and aim to further Nigeria's president's vision of helping a total of 27 million Nigerian children during the next 10 years.

"The DuPont team has created a unique sustainable business model that connects industrial production of a protein-fortified drink to school feeding and agricultural development and, therefore, fosters economic development for the communities involved," said Charles Ojei, food industry growth leader, DuPont West & Central Africa.  "As a result, DuPont can play a critical role in Africa's Green Revolution and make a difference in people's lives."

"We are working around the clock to ensure we are able to cover 205 schools, so that at least 200,000 students are benefiting," said Felicita Olajide, education secretary for Nigeria.
