DuPont engineer Jim Singletary was one of 82 engineers who recently attended a forum organized by the U.S.
National Academy of Engineering (NAE) to foster technical breakthrough for global problems.
Engineers at the forefront of technologies in a variety of disciplines attended the three-day "Frontiers of Engineering" forum, which covered topics including nano-electric devices, cognitive understanding, and countering proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
As a product development engineer in DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems, Jim works at the intersection of many disciplines to apply materials and fiber science principles in new product development. He is part of a multi-faceted team that works on a new generation of lighter-weight bullet resistant vests and helmets.
At the forum, Jim learned about the latest innovations in engineering and material interactions at the nano-, micro-, and macro-scales, while representing DuPont science-based solutions. "It was a great honor to represent DuPont at the NAE forum," Jim said.
"The U.S. Frontiers of Engineering program brings some of the country's rising-star engineers from a diverse range of disciplines together for an exchange of ideas," said Charles Vest, NAE president.
