All DuPont employees at the sites affected by Hurricane Ike have been accounted for.  All employees are safe!

"Our people at the affected sites made a tremendous effort to find everyone, including driving to the homes of employees to leave notes or checking with friends and neighbors," said Willie Martin, vice president, North America Operations.  "Nothing is more important than the safety of our people, and we are glad everyone is accounted for."

Less than a week after Hurricane Ike shut down 11 DuPont sites, several are back up and running and recovery efforts are fully underway at the rest.

Based on preliminary assessments of storm surge damage at the Sabine facility in Orange, Texas, the Ethylene Copolymers business has declared "force majeure" and is working closely with customers to lessen the impact on their businesses. It is not clear when restart will occur.

"It is our firm commitment to make the necessary repairs that will enable us to restart operations in Orange, Texas," said Bill Weber, vice president and general manager, DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers.  "Our operations team at the site is completing assessments of storm damage so that this process can begin as soon as possible.  We also are working to be in a position to definitively communicate our ability to supply customer needs."
