DuPont Sponsors SAMMIES, Honoring Innovation, Impact
DuPont Chairman and CEO Chad Holliday presented the
Service to America Medal for Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., to Dr. Eddie Bernard of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for his work in tsunami detection technology.
For the past six years, DuPont has been a lead sponsor of the Service to America Medals (also known as the SAMMIES). The medals honor federal employees who have shown strong commitment to public service and have made a significant contribution in their field of government. Honorees are chosen based on their commitment and innovation, as well as the impact of their work on addressing the needs of the U.S.
"At DuPont, we've spent more than 200 years using science to develop sustainable solutions to address some of the world's most pressing challenges," Chad said. "That is why I am pleased to present the Homeland Security Medal to Dr. Eddie Bernard, who has developed a new tsunami detection system that will help save lives during devastating natural disasters."
"DuPont is proud to sponsor the Service to America Medals," said Frank Pugliese, managing director, DuPont Government Solutions. "Our participation is an important way for us to recognize and reward the outstanding accomplishments of the nominees and award winners."
