Like many other companies, DuPont is addressing the threat of a potential influenza pandemic. Since May 2005, the company has had a global multi-disciplinary team in place to assess and prepare for such a pandemic. We actively monitor developments related to this threat, and bring the team together regularly for situation updates and coordinated action.
Regarding the possibility of an avian flu pandemic, we hope for the best, but we are preparing for the worst. Because no one can say for certain whether or when an avian flu pandemic may occur, we are using this as an opportunity to plan more broadly for a potential pandemic.
Our pandemic plan emphasizes employee well-being and addresses a number of issues, including maintaining business continuity. It also involves offering DuPont products to help control the spread of the virus. DuPont has always placed a strong emphasis on safety, and the health and well-being of our employees has been a core value of the company for more than 200 years.
