DuPont™ Zytel® HTN – Engineered for Extremes for Demanding Environments

DuPont™ Zytel® HTN cost effectively bridges the performance gap between conventional engineering resins and high-end specialty polymers – this is especially important when your component or system has to survive in a hot, cold, chemically aggressive and/or load-bearing environments. Based on aromatic copolymers, Zytel® HTN offers a balance of chemical, moisture and temperature resistance, plus outstanding processability.

Zytel® HTN PPA Grades

  • Zytel® HTN51 – Retains the highest stiffness and strength properties compared with other PPAs despite high temperatures and chemical exposure.
  • Zytel® HTN52 – Molds in water-heated tools, with good retention of mechanical properties when exposed to heat, chemicals and moisture.
  • Zytel® HTN54 – Builds on Zytel® HTN52 with increased toughness and improved retention of mechanical properties with moisture.

Zytel® HTN Structural Grades (Not PPA)

  • Zytel® HTN53 – Offers improved stiffness and toughness at ambient/moderate temperature; excellent surface appearance using water-heated tools.

Since our market introduction in 1994, Zytel® HTN has been delivering cost and performance improvements through innovative applications in automotive engine-cooling, under-the-hood, plumbing, heating, wire-harness connectors and structural applications (click on the case studies link at right for examples).

New applications are continuing to develop in automotive, including thermostat housings, water pumps, charge air coolers, and components in transmissions and engine oil systems. In electrical and electronic systems, Zytel® HTN is used in new lead-free SMT connectors and bushings. Structural Grades of Zytel® HTN are also helping to provide larger display areas when used in backbones for cell phones, PDAs and other hand-held devices; and debuting in automotive safety and chassis applications.
